Heroes of the Empire #1

Heroes of the Empire has become my current obsession. Could not put this book down. It’s dark and heavy because both main characters are having to face challenges. The book even starts off where Velamir, as a boy, lost his home to invaders from an opposing empire. Him being taken in to grow up and train as an elite soldier wasnt charity and wasn’t easy. Natassa is a princess to one of the most ruthless lords of the Karalik Empire, Lord Malus. Malus would sacrifice anything and anyone to gain control of the whole empire. You’d think that because she’s his daughter that he cares for her. Nope, he treats her with just enough care to make sure she’s lives to fulfill her duties and bridge gaps to gain more land.

This book is dark. Like it gives me Game of Thrones/ The Two Towers kinda vibes but no dragons, thought there are other fantastical elements at play. Lots of fighting and drama, suspense and intrigue, bloodshed and found family. Every moment I got to in this book kept leading into the next and I just didn’t want to stop. I needed to know what happened in the next chapter. World building and character building is top notch for a fantasy book. I was not disappointed, to say the least. This is book one of the series so I am definitely looking forward to reading book two!
