Wolf Blessed

Wolf Blessed

The book starts you off in the woods with Arica out hunting for a deer. She’s the only girl of four siblings and always made fun of. All she wants is to prove them wrong. I totally feel for her on this as you just feel the gender stereotypes played out as her mother wants her to be a homemaker. Her brother, Malin, works at the local tavern and said he wouldn’t mind learning the recipe but is silently denied. But then,  there’s the annual trials of all the young people that reach the age of seventeen to see where their skills lie.

But the king decides to change things up and it all led to Arica entering a world of magic. Her life is changed and she can no longer stay at home, risking her family’s life. Malin is her support and I love him for that. I kind of saw this as a coming of age because of all the things Arica has to deal with. The pacing felt fast but, I think given how things were happening, it was okay for this. I, myself, tend to go back to reread things because I’m caught up in the speed but that didn’t bother me at all. Really hoping for a book 2.
