Jen’s Book Nook

Well, today is the Lunar New Year 🧧 so my sister and I try to make arrangements to be with our dad. It’s just the 3 of us so we try to have all the representative dishes for the New Year and help with the cooking so dad isn’t doing it all. In the past, we used to get together with some relatives in Chinatown, but everyone’s gone through a lot last year. And the fact it’s in the middle of the week this year makes it hard to get together. But, we made the most of it and it still turned out nicely.

We (myself, my sister and dad) try to get together as much during holidays and birthdays as possible since mom passed during Covid. I mean, yes, we always got together when my mom was still around, but it’s become more important to us to be there for dad. Doesn’t really sound like a tradition, but my family never was into anything too crazy like traveling or going places for vacation 🤷‍♀️ Just making time for family was enough.
