This is a mystery book, but not one I expected. The beginning kinda hits you with so much sorrow and regret. But, it lays the foundation into what you later find out when Fern moves to the farm Lunar after recovering from her broken marriage. It eventually leads her to finding out the truth behind the tragedy that fell on that land. Lots of emotions as we learn more about Fern and the family that used to live there. Books like these that hit emotionally show that great detail was taken to portray what the characters were feeling. It was a wonderful change from what I usually read.
Blurb
Every house has a history, and Lunar bears no exception to the rule. Its secrets have remained buried. Until now.
Recovering from her broken marriage, Fern Jones arrives at the farmhouse eager to begin her new life. But when she discovers a child’s bedroom, perfectly preserved behind an old oak door, she soon comes to terms with the fact that her future is bound to be shaped by Lunar’s past.
With local residents haunted by and equally reluctant to remember the tragedy that happened fifteen years ago, Fern tunes into the whispers and prepares herself to uncover the truth behind the place she’s trying to call home.
After all, there’s no smoke without fire.
