Will’s job is running rapid risk assessment for the GHHI, a NGO that sends teams all over the world to help those areas that don’t have access to much needed medical aid. When he and his team get trapped under a mudslide, Will was the one most injured. When Katie gets the call that he’s been brought home and hospitalized, she takes it upon herself to help with his recovery. Their daughter, Pheobe, helps settle a lot of the tension in the beginning while both parents go through emotions and feelings they haven’t since their divorce a few years earlier. The most heart wrenching moment was when Will was at his most vulnerable, but Katie stuck by him through it all. Will and Katie’s struggle between love and pain was so real in this book and I couldn’t not love Phoebe in all this. Such a wonderful book to read that showed compassion and love surpassing all obstacles in the end.
