It’s Banned Book Week! 🎉📖
From 10/5 to 10/11, show support in reading one or more of the books that people think should be banned from libraries and schools. Established in 1982, this is a means to bring the book community together in mutual support of the freedom to read what they want. (Yes, I paraphrased off the official ALA website bc I didn’t know this either!)
@americanlibraryassociation has a huge list of “book resumes” on books banned, where they’ve been banned from and why. I grabbed The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini that I borrowed from my local library to start this week off.
Will I get to other books? Maybe? The point of the week is to bring awareness about the censorship of the written word and free speech.
QOTD: what books do you plan to read for Banned book Week?
For more info on this and the books that made this list, check out the official ALA website.
