Touching Base

If you’ve seen my last few posts, I’ve gone back to sharing my insta posts instead of replicating them here. My health has not been the best. Things in the world has been a lot and, while I don’t want to not be informed, it has taken a toll on me overall.

It sucks, to be honest. I haven’t been getting into gardening as much this year (though my season has been pretty bad overall so not hurt on that). Things started late, I’ve had to help my dad more, Summer was too f*cking hot! I have been doing more retail therapy, but I’m fairly sure we all have in one form or another.

I completely forgot about the daily prompt so I’m going to try to get back to doing that just to do for the hell of it and try not to stress over the things going outside. I know we all get to hear about it. We can’t avoid it. But we all have to try to do what we can to take care of ourselves. This post is my start to doing that.

In terms of gardening, so much didn’t happen like I hoped, but that’s ok. I’ve gotten into house plants more. We have a few but I found some sellers at the Green Market in Union Square so a few affordable finds later and I’ve started a collection! I’ll try to do some photography to share what I have so far. Seems ridiculous to be so excited about books or plants but others feel that way when they get the latest game release or… a car… (totally failing lol).

In terms of reviews, I am forcing myself to not do so many signups for ARCs. I fell off the calendar wagon hard and did not keep track so my September and October have been the hottest mess since I started Bookstagram over a year ago. What does that mean for me? Well, unless it’s an author I truly love or an audiobook review I can squeeze in, I have a huge backlog of reviews owed between signups and review sites. I also want to really hit my TBR and it’ll hit me back, but that’s life with a TBR. Would I post reviews on my TBR books? Sure, if I feel like sharing for that particular book, but not as much as for the books i owe reviews for. I will definitely post if it’s an Indie Author I chose to buy a book from or got through a blind date with a book.

What are my plans now that we’re heading into Winter? Besides catching up on reviews and indoor plant care, try to be more active. I am a vintage Millennial and my body is reminding me that I’m not even close to spring chicken status anymore. I am proud I haven’t stress ate myself back to how I was when I was first diagnosed with Lupus, but I know I can do better. I also plan to knit/ crochet away time as well. My desire for a cardigan always resurfaces when it gets cold.

So that’s pretty much how things have been for me lately. I’ve never been good at keeping an actual journal. This started as a backup for my IG but, trying to do more with it might not be so bad for my mental health. Please bear (bare? Rawr…) with me on that.
