DIY day 😌
Sunny cat (that criminal 😒) has started going after the boxes I have books in, threatening their papery lives with murder. So I remembered seeing some DIY cat scratcher ideas and went to work.
Materials:
•1 book sub box (perfect size for small spaces)
•pencil or pen
•box cutter
•hot glue gun (used sparingly)
I cut the lid off and the fold that closes the box is the same width as the sides so that was my ruler. I didn’t concern over perfection because this is meant to be scratched on. You need as much extra cardboard as can fit in snuggly so this is one area I can’t tell. I so happened to have a couple extra Zon boxes and it worked out to about 3 book sized boxes and a medium square box for this with scraps and extra small pieces for the next one I make.
Now, the glue is only on the inside and some on the sides for stabilization. Despite the amount I cut, it can still come out. I scratched the surface myself with my non-murder potato mittens so imagine the tiny mittens of a purring killer. A few lines of hot glue here and there is enough and here you go.
I’ve seen people use bigger boxes (like if you ordered 3 books from BOTM) but I didn’t have that nor the cardboard to fix such a thing. But I believe you can go without the glue if you cut the pieces half the height of the box.
I’m totally doing this again so I don’t spend on buying premade cardboard stuff 👍
QOTD: would you do this for your cat? Have you done it before? Let me know!
