Embers of Analon by Paul Michael Winters is an mm fantasy romance about Cas Nightbrook, herb seller by day, thief by night. Sworn to protect his sister and get vengeance for the loss of their parents. When he meets Darion Thorne, things start to reveal themselves. What once was thought to be a long lost race of magical people, leads to more than either could bargain for. 

The beginning is slow build, but it’s meant to lead up to the discovery of hidden truths about 30% into the story. This is all to establish the atmosphere and world building, which some great fantasy books do. I was able to feel the emotions and stress Cas was going through, the inability to trust Darion right away because they just met. The rage he felt when his eyes landed on Orlik (you’ll find out who he is if you read the book.) 

Well written, very fluid in progression of story and reveal. Looking forward to the next book!
