Man, did this book take me by surprise. Every turn it took was something I did not expect. First, you’re in the roaring 20s America. Segregation and racism is still very much alive and even though the story is in the north, there’s still areas that treated Blacks and Jews and lesser citizens. Even when you’re “white passing” like Dorothea, once you’re found out, tables get turned and she gets chased out. But she is one determined FMC when it comes to finding out what happened to her mother. With her bridge Chester by her side, they both land on their own journeys to discovering the truth behind Greystone Manor after receiving an invitation for the chance to become the next Mrs. Kane. 

I just loved everything about this. Definitely coming of age vibes with overcoming adversity and saving the world. You’ll have to read this to find out what I meant by that. Also… if there’s a sequel to this, I’d really love to know because that ending… 👀
